In 2016, Finbro Construction was engaged to renovate and improve the high-end Madeline Hotel & Residences in Mountain Village to secure its status as a five-star resort. The project included building a new porte-cochére that would attach to the existing building and be the base for and a stainless-steel swimming pool and two spas on the deck above. Aptly named the "Sky Terrace," the addition was flawlessly integrated with the original building and the net result is one of the most spectacular swimming pools in the Rocky Mountains.
On the renovation end of the luxury hotel project, Finbro implemented the redesign of 68 condominium units; the existing restaurant, Black Iron Kitchen; and the full-service Spa and Salon. New additions included M Lounge club room featuring a bar that opens on to the outdoor plaza; 20 Below Kids Club; a Yoga Studio; and a new candy store open to the general public, Dylan’s Candy Bar.
Additions and remodels are always challenging and there were several factors that made this project particularly difficult. The luxury hotel remained open and operating during construction while the hotels’ location on the busy main byway, Mountain Village Boulevard, required careful planning and flawless execution. There were also significant coordination, integration and safety challenges. The fire and egress requirements had to be fully maintained while tying the new porte-cochére and swimming pool into the hotel’s existing electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire suppression and alarm systems.
The remodel and upgrades to the 68 condominium units, referred to as "The Residences," were an integral part of the project as well. The Residences, ranging in size from one to four bedrooms, were immediately offered for sale, and the response was overwhelmingly positive. Listed exclusively by Telluride Sotheby's, and offered in phases, the project was sold out in just three years. Prices ranged from approximately $520,000 to $3.1 million. With the remodel complete, Madeline Hotel & Residences became part of exclusive Auberge Resorts Collection.
The project had an incredibly tight six-month deadline with the requirement that the Sky Terrace and pool be open prior to the Winter Holiday season. Finbro met that schedule several days early, demonstrating the ability to deliver complex projects on time.
Another phase of renovation is planned and will include upgraded common areas and hotel rooms.
As plans progress, we will post updates on our Current Projects and Blog pages.
